Pleasant journey to the Spoleto surrounding, visiting the enchanting hill town of Trevi. Visit and Tast to a renowned olive –oil mill. Relaxing afternoon excursion to the Clitunno’s Wellsprings and to the Castle of Campello Alto. (departure at 10 a.m. – return at 5 p.m.) INFORMATION: During I cent. b.C. ancient Trebe (Trevi) became a Roman Municipium below towards Via Flaminia but only in the Middle Ages the inhabitants of Trevi retreated back into the Roman fortifications of the hillside. After the control of Longobard Dukedom of Spoleto, Trevi became a free municipality during XII cent. The oldest olive tree in Umbria, and probably in the whole of Italy, is at Trevi. Known as the Olive of Sant’ Emiliano ( 1.700 years-old), the tree is said to grow in the place where the town’s patron saint was martyred in 304 BC during the Christian persecutions ordered by Emperor Diocletian.
